Mechanical Engineering (Part-Time): Wigan & Leigh College HNC/HTQ/Lvl 4

You will develop the analytical thinking skills and principles of mechanical engineering employers are looking for. This programme will develop your knowledge to become a professional engineer, designing innovative products and services, as well as taking technical responsibility for complex engineering systems.

Course Overview

  • This course is perfect for those looking to start or progress a career in mechanical engineering. It will teach you strong analytical and problem-solving skills; through industry-aligned learning, employer involvement, work placements, and access to the Greater Manchester Institute of Technology employer network.
  • This course will cover key areas of mechanical engineering. This includes engineering design, mathematics, professional project management, mechanical principles, and fluid mechanics. Whilst also covering thermodynamics and heat engines, production engineering for manufacture, quality and process improvement.
  • You’ll be studying for two evenings per week for 2 years. Additional units can be taken to convert into a Higher National Diploma.
  • You’ll be assessed through written assignments, presentations and laboratory exercises.
