Course Overview

  • This course is ideal for practical and analytical learners who want to build strong technical and problem-solving skills for the industry. It’s designed for those starting out or already working in the sector. The course provides a solid foundation in mechanical engineering, taught by industry-experienced staff with access to specialist engineering labs. It prepares you for technician, design, or development roles. Whilst providing you with the knowledge and skills employers are looking for.
  • You’ll develop an understanding in core mechanical engineering through mandatory units covering design, mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing, quality, and professional project management.
  • You’ll study full time for 2 days per week for one academic year with a mix of classroom, lab and project-based learning. There will be the option to complete a HND after year 1. A part-time route is also available with a September and January start.
  • You’ll be assessed through a combination of coursework, practical projects, technical assignments and presentations. Each unit is internally assessed and graded. Your final qualification grade is based on the performance across all units.
