HNC Construction and Civil Engineering: Trafford & Stockport College (Full-Time)

Civil Engineering deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, and includes infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, sewage systems, pipelines and buildings.

Course Overview

  • This course introduces civil engineering, covers infrastructure design and construction; alongside developing the technical, problem-solving, business, and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively as a senior engineering technician.
  • You’ll study material selection, structural behaviour, testing and performance analysis. You will also explore the design process, geotechnical principles, and the technologies used in infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, and substructures. While learning to analyse forces and apply structural design concepts.
  • You’ll be able to study either two years part-time with one full day attendance per week, or one year full-time with two full day attendance per week.
  • You’ll be assessed using a variety of methods including preparation of reports, delivery of presentations, demonstration of skills in practical workshops and through experiments, portfolios and the collation of evidence.
